Elective Caesarian Sections (ELCS)

Many women chose to have an elective caesarian (ELCS) after a severe tear. This can be due to emotional trauma, physical ongoing issues or both.

Once you become pregnant again you will discuss with your midwife & consultant/gynae which options are best for you. You may even be referred to have an endo-anal scan to see any lasting damage to the anal sphincter/s. You can ask to have this if you wish.

Ultimately, in the end you can do what you want to, whether that is an ELCS or a homebirth.
